Bio
Andy Ball is a documentary cinematographer and director based in Bangkok, Thailand.
Although he has a background in marine biology, he turned his focus towards character-driven and investigative documentaries on human rights and environmental issues in Southeast Asia. His latest documentary, “The Clearing,” chronicles the struggles of young Cambodian environmentalists facing imprisonment for their activism. His investigative work ranges from exposing the ties between major fashion brands and deforestation to documenting illegal fishing practices off the Cambodian coast.
Over the past seven years, Andy has collaborated with numerous international media in both cinematography and producing roles, including the BBC, Disney+, Frontline CBS, South China Morning Post, ABC, Insider, In Old News and Mongabay. His still photography has been featured in The New York Times, dpa, and Coda Story.
